Solar Panel Optimisers
Solar panel optimisers are small devices attached to individual panels to improve performance, especially in partially shaded systems. They use Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) technology—similar to that in string inverters—but on a per-panel basis, allowing each panel to operate at its optimal output. Acting as DC-to-DC converters, optimisers adjust voltage and current to extract the most power from each panel, even when shaded. This prevents one panel's reduced output from affecting the entire system. Many modern optimisers also offer real-time performance monitoring via an app.
